Sevendust Looks to Win Over New Fans on Dead/Seven Tour with Theory of a Deadman

Sevendust is hitting the road with Theory of a Deadman for the Dead/Seven U.S. tour, which launches Friday in Duluth, Minnesota.

For Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose, the tour represents an opportunity for the band to reach listeners who may not have seen them perform before.

Rose tells ABC Audio that the band's agent sometimes puts together tour combinations that may initially surprise people, but that crossover potential is exactly what Sevendust is looking forward to.

"We're always looking to try to play in front of people that might not have seen us before or maybe thought, 'Uh, I don't know about those guys,'" Rose says. "Then hopefully we can catch 'em."

Even after more than 30 years and 15 albums, Sevendust still has a desire to prove itself in front of unfamiliar audiences. Rose says the band recently experienced that feeling again while performing in Europe.

"We were able to go over there and play in front of a bunch of people that didn't know us," Rose says.

Rose recalled watching the audience's reaction change during the performance, eventually looking at his tech after three songs and thinking, "Got 'em." He compared the experience to how performing felt for the band in 1997.

"So, whenever you get those opportunities, you jump at those," Rose says.

Longtime Sevendust fans attending the Dead/Seven tour can expect material spanning the band's career along with songs from their latest album, One, which was released in May.

Rose says Sevendust played three new songs during its previous run, something he considers unusual for the band. He says he doesn't remember the group doing that since around the time of its 2003 album Seasons.
