Alabama Shakes Announces First New Album in Over a Decade

Alabama Shakes has announced its third studio album, I Must Be Dreaming, which is set for release on Aug. 28.

The upcoming record marks the band's first full-length album in more than 10 years.

Frontwoman Brittany Howard said the album title reflects both the challenges and beauty of today's world.

"There's a double meaning to it," Howard explained. "It could be saying, 'I must be dreaming, because the world is so f****** crazy right now.' But it could also mean, 'I must be dreaming, because the world is so incredibly beautiful.' Both those things can be true at once."

The album includes the previously released songs "Another Life" and "American Dream." A new track, "I Feel Hope Coming," is scheduled to premiere Friday.

Alabama Shakes released Boys & Girls in 2012 and Sound & Color in 2015 before going on hiatus in 2018. The band reunited at the end of 2024 with a surprise performance before officially announcing its return.

The band will launch a U.S. tour on July 24 in Tacoma, Washington.
