Various Artists Rough Guide To Barrelhouse Blues

$16.99 USD

Description
Named after the rough and ready bars where labourers gathered to drink and dance, barrelhouse was a raucous form of piano blues that got the juke joints swinging. From early pioneers such as Cow Cow Davenport and Speckled Red to the boogie-woogie legends Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons, this collection charts the rise and incredible influence of this good-time blues. 01 Speckled Red: The Dirty Dozen 03:11 02 Jimmy Yancey: Slow And Easy Blues 02:32 03 Cripple Clarence Lofton: Strut That Thing 02:56 04 Will Ezell: Heifer Dust 02:57 05 Walter Roland: Watcha Gonna Do? 02:57 06 Cow Cow Davenport: Cow Cow Blues 03:08 07 Romeo Nelson: Head Rag Hop 02:56 08 Roosevelt Sykes: 32-20 Blues 03:07 09 Clarence "Pinetop" Smith: Pinetop's Boogie Woogie 03:10 10 Skip James: If You Haven't Any Hay Get On Down The Road 02:52 11 Turner Parrish: Fives 03:16 12 Bert Mays: You Can't Come In 03:06 13 Meade Lux Lewis: Honky Tonk Train Blues 02:58 14 Charlie Spand: Soon This Morning Blues 02:56 15 Herve Duerson: Avenue Strut 02:47 16 Victoria Spivey: Hoodoo Man Blues 02:36 17 Henry Brown: Henry Brown Blues 02:57 18 Little Brother Montgomery: Vicksburg Blues 02:56 19 Jabo Williams: Pratt City Blues 03:19 20 Pete Johnson & Albert Ammons: Barrelhouse Boogie 03:01 21 Bob Call: 31 Blues 02:39 22 Freddie “Redd” Nicholson: You Gonna Miss Me Blues 03:03 23 Montana Taylor: Detroit Rocks 03:19 24 Louise Johnson: On The Wall 03:00 25 Leroy Carr & Scrapper Blackwell: Barrelhouse Woman No.2 02:39
