Description 40th ANNIVERSARY FIRST ALBUM REISSUE / FULLY REMASTERED - EXCLUSIVE PICTURES - FULL BOOKLET WITH LYRICS / ORIGINAL COVER ARTWORK - Their path seemed predetermined. Pat McManus, 23 (guitar, vocals), John McManus, 21 (bass and vocals) and Tommy McManus, 18 (drums), come from a musical family in County Fermanagh. Their parents played traditional Irish folk music. The children naturally followed in their footsteps. There was a good vibe around the guitar and fiddle when the family quintet played, and Irish Cream did the rounds. But very soon, tradition was no longer enough for the young musicians. Enthralled by the performance of the Irish group Horslips, who played a mixture of Celtic folk combined with a rock rhythm, their musical world collapsed. The three brothers decided to swap their bagpipes, fiddle and brass instruments for modern equipment. And the change quickly spread across the island. Horslips, in particular, hired them to open for them before Wishbone Ash and Hawkwind followed suit. The three McManus brothers soon turned professional. In 1981, the Mama's Boys trio recorded their first self-produced album, Official Record. Their trademark: heavy, aggressive rock based on strong melodies. The public and the media were not mistaken. It was an immediate success. Pat McManus is the brains behind the band, the creative mind behind Mama's Boys. He composed all the songs and had guitar-hero status. The press exclaimed in unison: "As with all great heavy metal bands, the guitarist is the focal point and Pat makes most of his colleagues look like green shoots" (Kerrang!) or "The three McManus brothers are the future, if not the future, of rock in Ireland" (Hot Press). In 1983, the trio were voted one of the top 5 new bands by the readers of Kerrang! Magazine. Thin Lizzy asked them to support them on their European tour that same year. Mamas's Boy's reputation only grew with each passing month. He played to 30,00 people at the British Reading Festival and sold out his concerts at Dublin's Dalymount Stadium and London's famous Marquee Club. All the more reason for him to return in 1984 for another European tour, this time with Scorpions. So it was Mama's Boys who opened the brand-new Parisian stage at the Palais omnisport de Bercy! After a second self-produced album (Plug in It in 1982) and Turn it Up in 1983, Mama'sBoys signed to Jive (Arista) in 1984 and released a compendium of their best songs from their concerts for their first international release. Tracks by the 'Professor' and a cover of Slade's 'Mama We're All Crazy Now' guarantee a first-class event in the world of rock. And with the guarantee that mothers will run away from their boys when they hear this frenzied rock.
