Thom Yorke received one of the highest honors in songwriting Thursday night as he was inducted into the Fellowship of the Ivors Academy during the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards.

The prestigious award recognizes exceptional achievement and long-term impact in songwriting and music creation. According to The Ivors Academy, the Fellowship honors artists who demonstrate “the highest excellence and impact in the art and craft of music creation.”

Yorke was recognized for his groundbreaking work with Radiohead as well as his influential solo career, both of which have helped shape alternative and experimental music over the past several decades.

During the ceremony, pop superstar Harry Styles presented Yorke with the honor and praised Radiohead as his favorite band while introducing the legendary songwriter.

Yorke’s influence stretches across generations of musicians, with Radiohead albums such as OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows often regarded among the most important alternative records ever released.
