Paul Rodgers and Geezer Butler Celebrated on Limited-Edition Sound & Vision Live Charity Album

Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers and Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler are being celebrated on a new limited-edition charity album, Sound & Vision Live.

Produced by former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum, the album was recorded in March at the inaugural Palm Springs Sound & Vision Awards in Palm Springs, California.

Proceeds from Sound & Vision Live will benefit Sorum’s Adopt the Arts foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing underserved elementary schools with high-quality music education.

Along with performances from Rodgers and Butler, the double vinyl album features an all-star lineup that includes Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes, Steve Stevens, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Stone Temple Pilots’ Robert DeLeo and Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt.

Sorum says he didn’t initially plan to turn the event into an album. He originally recorded and filmed the show to preserve the experience for himself, but after listening back, he felt they had captured something special in the performances, the energy in the room, and the artists coming together for the kids.

The album’s first pressing will be limited to 2,000 copies and is available for preorder now through Experience Vinyl. The album is scheduled to ship Sept. 28.

A record release celebration will take place Sept. 13 at the Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs and will feature two screenings of a companion concert film.

The event will also offer 250 Collector’s Edition colored vinyl copies of Sound & Vision Live.
