Morrissey Says Las Vegas Shows Were Scrapped for Reasons Outside His Control

Morrissey’s scheduled four-show run at Wynn Las Vegas will not go ahead as planned.

News emerged over the weekend that the former Smiths frontman’s Las Vegas performances, which were scheduled to begin Friday, had been canceled. Morrissey has since addressed the situation and says the decision was the result of circumstances beyond his control.

In a post on his Morrissey Central website titled “MORRISSEY DOESN’T CANCEL VEGAS,” Morrissey stated that the shows could not take place because of “logistical reasons outside of Morrissey’s control.”

The Las Vegas situation follows another canceled Morrissey performance earlier this year.

In March, Morrissey was scheduled to perform in Valencia, Spain, but said that music from a nearby techno festival left him unable to sleep before the concert. He later explained that the performance had become impossible because of sleep deprivation.

At the time, Morrissey maintained that the show had not technically been canceled, writing that circumstances had instead made the performance impossible.

Morrissey is currently scheduled to return to the stage in September with an appearance at Riot Fest in Chicago.
