Brandon Flowers Reflects on His Future as He Prepares to Release New Solo Album Thrasher

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers is preparing to release his new solo album, Thrasher, on Aug. 21, while also reflecting on what the future may hold for his music career.

In an interview with the U.K.'s The Times, Flowers shared that he has been questioning how much longer he wants to continue performing and recording music.

"I'm really going through it right now: how much longer do I want to do this, what does it mean, why am I doing it anyway?" Flowers said, adding that he often feels sick after finishing a tour.

Flowers said he looks to The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger for inspiration, wondering what continues to motivate the legendary performer to take the stage. He believes the memorable moments experienced during live concerts are a major reason to keep going.

Despite those questions, Flowers is scheduled to launch a U.S. solo tour in September in support of Thrasher.

The upcoming album explores a country music direction, while Flowers says his roots in synth-pop remain an important part of his musical identity.

"You can never take the synth pop out of me," Flowers said. "It will always be there."
