Weezer Announces New Self-Titled Gold Album Arriving August 21

Weezer is back with a new album. The “Buddy Holly” rockers are set to release a new self-titled record on Aug. 21.

This is not the first time Weezer has released a self-titled album. The band has previously released six self-titled records that became known by the colors of their album covers: Blue, Green, Red, White, Teal, and Black. The new album features a gold cover.

According to a press release, the album was produced by Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume. The project saw the band return to the way they originally made albums by working together in a rehearsal space, writing and developing ideas as a group.

The album is described as “a tightly-wound, ready-to-spring record.” Blume said he wanted to make “the most violent Weezer album ever.”

Weezer is previewing the album with the release of “We Might as Well Be Strangers,” featuring Wednesday. The track is available now through digital outlets.

The album is available for preorder now.
