The iconic smashed bass featured on the cover of The Clash's 1979 album, London Calling, will be displayed at the new London Museum in Smithfield, England.
The Fender Precision Bass is being loaned by The Clash bassist Paul Simonon. The instrument was previously exhibited at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
Simonon famously smashed the bass during a performance at New York's Palladium on Sept. 20, 1979. The moment was captured by photographer Pennie Smith, and the image later became the cover of London Calling.
The bass will be featured in the museum's Past Lives exhibit. According to a press release, the exhibit will take visitors on a "journey through London's history via chronological and thematic displays."
The new London Museum is scheduled to open Nov. 28 in Smithfield's General Market. Additional information is available at the museum's website.
