Eddie Vedder Performs at Glen Hansard's Funeral in Dublin

Eddie Vedder honored late Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard by performing during Hansard's funeral on Tuesday at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

The Pearl Jam frontman performed "Song of Good Hope," a song from Hansard's 2012 debut solo album, Rhythm and Repose. Vedder was joined by Markéta Irglová, Hansard's longtime collaborator in The Swell Season and his co-star in the film Once.

Vedder and Hansard shared a longtime friendship and worked together on several occasions. Hansard performed with Vedder's solo band, The Earthlings, opened for both Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam during multiple tours, and co-wrote Olivia Vedder's debut song, "My Father's Daughter."

The funeral also featured remarks from U2's Bono, who spoke about Hansard's unique ability to make everyone feel like one of his closest friends. Bono also played a voice message from Patti Smith, who sang a lullaby for Hansard's family and friends.

Later in the service, Bono began reading the lyrics to U2's "Beautiful Day" before The Edge joined him in leading mourners in singing part of the song together.

Hansard died on July 29 following a motorcycle accident. He was 56.
