Eddie Vedder Teases Performance at Obama Presidential Center Opening

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is teasing a possible performance during the upcoming opening ceremony for the Obama Presidential Center.
Vedder shared a screenshot on his Instagram Story showing what appeared to be a text message from former President Barack Obama that read, “Would you do me the honor of performing at our Grand Opening Ceremony?”
The screenshot also showed a partying face emoji reaction to the message.
The Obama Foundation later posted a screenshot of the same text exchange on Instagram without mentioning Vedder by name. The caption read, “The invitation has been sent,” alongside a looking eyes emoji.
The Obama Presidential Center is scheduled to open on Friday in Chicago. The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, beginning at 11 a.m. CT and will stream live online.
Vedder has long supported Obama and performed ahead of his farewell address in 2017. Like Obama, Vedder also has ties to the Chicago area, having been born in Evanston, Illinois.
